I hope they sue the cops. There is nothing wrong with enforcing the law but there is everything wrong with excessive force.

"Just imagine how far they would have gone had the business been a day care operating without a city permit!"
And not following USDA meal guidelines! I shudder at the thought.

Over zealous? Can you say "drunk with power"?

I hate to think of it. Theses clowns would have put each kid in a plastic bag and logged them in as evidence.

What the persons who were arrested for is open to debate. California has some form of legalized marijuana and whether or not the shop was in accordance with the law will be worked out in court. What these officers did was totally out of line. I can understand officers reactions can be over zealous in a violent arrest. That’s going to happen and I even will make allowances for that. Just from what was on the video and not taking into account what could be called questionable testimony of the shop operators. Based only on what was on the video. There was no need to smash the surveillance cameras. If you want to look above the ceiling tiles you move them you don’t destroy them. I have been in a house that was robbed that didn’t suffer this much damage. All of the officers involved need to be FIRED and pay restitution for the damage out of their own pockets. After that they need to be prosecuted and do a little jail time.
The fact that they tried to destroy the surveillance system makes me wonder if this was a legitimate raid or if the cops were looking for a payday.

I'm just wondering how the "cops never do wrong" and/or the "nobody understands how hard it is to be a cop" crowd will explain away the cop walking on the back and neck of a completely compliant citizen?

I always believed in remote monitoring and recording of surveillance cameras to thwart criminals who come in and try to destroy video. In this case the criminals were the police. If they were acting legitimately, they would have no need of destroying evidence. Now it also seems an extra totally disguised camera is needed to record everything that happens as they tear the place apart looking for the recordings! So we have video evidence of unprovoked assault by police. Walking across the guy like he was a sidewalk block is going to infuriate judge and/or jury. Destruction of evidence charges should be laid immediately upon the officers who destroyed the cameras, and the one that was laughing as he batted that second camera should be incarcerated in general population so he can make new friends.
Just imagine how far they would have gone had the business been a day care operating without a city permit!
