If only they could pass a law requiring Bills stand on their own, without unrelated, and politically expedient poison pills inserted in them. What do transportation Bills with trains to nowhere and student loans have in common? A liberal scheme.
The truth is that this rate increase affects Stafford Loans taken out this Summer and beyond, not previous loans renegotiated higher. How many American's understood this? Almost ZERO!
Queen Nancy lacks the moral ethics to be truthful to the public, instead chooses to play politics. She scores big on her sociopathic dishonesty. (the political fog she pretends she doesn't have anything to do with)
Republicans were too blind to realize that liberals would rally behind dishonestly to score political points. Republicans also stepped on the proverbial "rake in the yard" by trying to de-fund Nancy's Obamacare slush fund of no accountability (aka: Women's preventative health measures")
friggen idgits -- when will they learn? Liberals are Lucy pulling away the football while Republican Charlie Browns continue to fall for it!
Until we get rid of the dinosaurs in Congress, nothing will get fixed

The halt to raising interest rates on college loans is a common sense move but it still was a fight. This congress is so useless they struggle to agree on the naming of new Post Offices. The biggest accomplishment of this congress is their ability to avoid grid lock which they have failed at miserably.

No apoligies necessary for Cincinnati, only congratuations.
The transportation bill, as passed, deleted all funding for the indiotic ill-conceived "StreetCar Named Desire To Nowhere" that some city leaders in Cincinnati wanted to build (with federal money). Saved: $126 Million.
That project would have built a single line streetcar, going from one area with very little population (downtown) up to Clifton (populated by college students). The project would have necessitated ancillary work to move many utility lines buried under the street, at an additional cost of 20-40 million dollars. The resulting disruption during construction would have probably caused many local business to close. The streetcar could not have generated enough revenue to support its operation, much less justify the large outlay to build it.
Rightfully killed, via an amendment from Congressman Steve Chabot (R-Cincinnati).

Paxman, you post that like that like it is the first time that the House has passed a bill to prevent the student loan increase. Maybe you actually don't know that the House passed a bill that kept the interest rate at 3.4%, but the Senate didn't vote on it and the President promised to veto it.
Yes, you only get your news from left leaning news outlets so you know nothing about HR 4628 The Interest Rate Reduction Act that was passed on April 27, 2012. It was passed 215/195. But you only want to bring up this one. The fact is that the House has passed a ton of resolutions and bills. The Senate has chosen to sit on their hands and not vote on what the House passes.

"Republicans are always willing to work with Democrats on issues that are worthwhile" Possibly one of the funniest (and most delusional) statements ever on GB.

Smooth - I think you may have just hit on something there. We have a generation or two that want things for nothing and dont seem to understand that TANSTAAFL rules in the end.
They just dont grok it.

Republicans are always willing to work with Democrats on issues that are worthwhile. And are also doing a pretty good job on stopping the Demofascists' wish list.

Fly--people don't want to think about how we are going to pay for Obamacare even if we have a legit mechanism built into the law.
What I find hilarious is that we have all of these college grads with student loan debt who are now complaining about not being able to get a job and pay it back....but NO ONE made them take the loans and rack up all that debt. There are many less expensive options for college that people don't want to use.

But if the students dont pay the interest as per Obamacare which took the student loans into the gubbmint fold to pay down the cost of Obamacare then how much more will it cost.
Typical liberal ploy. Pass a law that has some arcane hidden way to partly offset the real costs of the law then quietly obliterate the method you sneakily inserted in the law to pay for it. Oh yeah do both things under the guise of being compassionate and helping others.
In the meantime we owe something like 16 trillion dollars and its climbing faster all the time.

"Congress, in a rare display of bipartisanship, on Friday sent to President Barack Obama a roughly $105 billion transportation bill that lawmakers from both parties touted as perhaps the largest jobs measure of the year." Hardly surprising. It's an election year, after all.
