Poll #s has a major effect depending on the areas the poll was taken. Time of day taken. How the questions were worded?

I agree that the poll was off but you have to look at the sample and the people running the poll (I am speaking in general). Everyone who follows polls know that there is a difference between registered voters, likely voters, and just anyone on the street. No to mention that most polls have a large amount of bias. IMHO stick with Gallup and Rasmussen and if you want to look at trends then you can reference RCP but don't put a lot of stock in RCP because it still uses old data and outliers.

The polls aren't dishonest. The people really answer the questions that way. Depending on the pool of those to be questioned and the way the questions are phrased you can get whatever result that you want.

Besides some of them being scams, there are others whose purpose is to influence public opinion rather than to measure it, under the theory that if they say their side is winning it will help demoralize and suppress the vote of the other side. mudtoe

"Some polls are dishonest"
That's for sure! A number of weeks ago we received several robo calls asking whoever answered the phone to participate in a simple three-question poll about politics. After answering, the recording informed me that I'd just won a three-day Caribbean cruise for two, then instructed me to hold on the line in order to give my personal information to a live employee. Instead, I hung up.
Dishonest indeed.

NickHammer, you are probably corect. I wasn't thinking clearly, 1/3 non-white probably is about correct, but still, 13% can't be even close to realistic, since ALL other polls are within 3 points for either candidate.
Right now, Rasmussen (the most accurate pollster over the last 30 years), has Romeny up nationally by 5 points, today June 24. I doubt he was down by 13 only a few days ago. Bloomberg's poll somehow, was WAY OFF.

If you go back and look at which pollster was the most accurate for the last 30 years for presidential polls, it was Rasmussen. Any yes, I know it is a Republican based pollster, but accuracy is accuracy, and it has been the big winner for a long time now. And today, Romney is up by 5 points nationally. And yes, I know state by state is what counts the most, but if Romney is really up by 5 points, that probably means a lot of the states that were close like Ohio, Florida, Michigan, and Iowa, will probably be won by Romney. If he wins all 4 of those, he will be our next president.

>>The article I read, then goes on to say, that the people they polled where 1/3 non-white, (black or hispanic). What kind of poll is that, lol ?? Why didn't they just poll all the people in prison and the homeless people, what is this world coming to?<<
I'm not sure what kind of right-wing blather you read, but the actual poll is here. What you call "1/3 non-white" are not all "black or hispanic" - they are 12% black, 11% hispanic, 4% Asian, 2% other, and 4% refused/not sure.
In fact, the 67% white in the poll is actually higher than the 63.7% non-Hispanic White in the general population.
But based on your last sentence, I seriously doubt you're at all interested in facts.

But what proportion of the population of this country is "non-white (black or hispanic)"?
Also, are you saying that polling "non-white (black or hispanic)" people is the same as polling "people in prison and the homeless people"? Interesting!
